        Wayne Marcus Scriven has his principal law office in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He has practiced law extensively in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Washington, D.C. area. Also, Scriven practiced law for several years with his firm in San Francisco, California before relocating it to Washington, D.C.

    When Scriven practiced law in San Francisco, he received many awards and recognition for his commitment to community service to the citizens of California. The Bar Association of San Francisco selected Scriven as its Lawyer of the Month for his dedication, commitment, and contributions to community service to the citizens of San Francisco. In addition, the Bar Association of San Francisco acknowledged Scriven as an Outstanding Lawyer in Public Service. The State Bar of California named Scriven as one of its lawyers of the year on several occasions for his rendition of community service to California citizens.

    Because of Scriven’s community service, he was named an Outstanding Young Man of America by the U.S. Jaycees. Scriven has served on the board of directors of many community organizations, including the Pee Dee Crisis Center in South Carolina and the Young Men’s Christian Association. Upon his graduation from law school, he served as the Directing Attorney of the Petersburg, Virginia Legal Aid Society.  The Urban League of Hampton Roads selected Scriven as a Volunteer of the Year in 2012 for his commitment to community service and assistance with the mission of the Urban League.

    Scriven is licensed by and an active member of the Virginia State Bar, the Washington, D. C. Bar, the South Carolina State Bar, the California State Bar, the United States Supreme Court Bar, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Maryland Federal Courts. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the South Hampton Roads Bar Association, the Washington Bar Association, and the Northern Virginia Black Attorneys’ Association.

    Scriven graduated from Virginia Union University with honors and received his law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco, California. Scriven is a member of the Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society and received an award for his participation in the Federal Job Training Partnership Act.  Scriven is listed in Who's Who in California.  He is a member of the United States Supreme Court Historical Society and the American Judicature Society.  Scriven has been named and listed as a lawyer in Who’s Who In American Law. 

    The South Hampton Roads Bar Association installed Scriven as its President in June 2014.  In September 2013, the Urban League of Hampton Roads appointed Scriven to its Board of Directors, which he currently serves as a Director.  He is a member of the Virginia Beach Branch of the NAACP.

    The Urban League Guild of Hampton Roads elected and inducted Scriven as its President in September 2015.  The Urban League Guild is an auxiliary of the National Affiliate Urban League of Hampton Roads.

    The Tidewater Lodge 106 of Norfolk, Virginia awarded Scriven the Humanitarian Award for 2015.  This award was given to Scriven for his community service and work to provide access to justice to all segments of the Hampton Roads community.

    The Regent University School of Law, Black Law Students Association, selected Scriven to receive its Dr. Joyce Mae Plummer's Award for "Making Black History" at its Annual Banquet in February 2016.  This Award is in recognition for Scriven's lifetime achievement in providing legal services and his commitment to providing community service.  Scriven has been recognized for his mentorship of law students and new lawyers as well.

    The Old Dominion Bar Association awarded its Harold Marsh, Sr. Community Service Award to Scriven at its Awared Conference in June 2016. 

    Teens With A Purpose initiated Scriven to be a member on its Board of Directors in 2017, after appointing him Advisory Council. 

    The Virginia State Bar selected Scriven to be a member of the Executive Committe on Local Bar Associations at its annual meeting in June 2016.
